Try these 3 Tips to Stop your Mind Chatter, Best Ways to Stop Overthinking, Train your Mind

We don’t spend our life inside our home. We live our life inside our mind. What I mean is, we might be cooking, or gardening, or writing, or reading, or even watching TV. But very few of us focus on the task we are doing. Most of us are usually thinking about past or about future. Our mind doesn’t stay in the present moment.

Most of the time, our mind keeps thinking about what needs to be done in the future or what we should have done in the past. See, this chatter of our mind is not even real. But still, it will affect your life a lot. If you don’t want to live your life living in a chattering mind, do this now.

A powerful technique to stop the chatter of your mind is to focus on our senses. That is, focus on different sounds, smells, sights, colors, etc. This will instantly bring you back to your present because your mind can go to the past or future. But the senses can only experience what is present right now. So, if your mind starts talking about what the future would be, then gently tell your mind to listen to the sounds in the room where you are sitting.

Listen to the sound of the fan, the chirping of the birds, or even the sounds of the vehicles on the road. Listen passively to these sounds and tell your mind that you are here with these sounds now. Tell your mind that the future is not here. These sounds are here. You are here. So, you can only live here. You can only think about what is here. You can only do something about what is here. You can use any sense, sight, touch, or smell. Use these to focus on where you are right now. Do this and the future will take care of itself.

The next thing to do to limit your mind’s chatter is that don’t bring your past back to present. See, most of the time your mind is talking to you about the past. What happened to you? Who did what to you? Understand, the mind does this to make a strategy to save you from the similar experience in the future. But honestly, despite all the strategizing, your mind has no control over how this or that is happening.

So, when the mind begins to chatter about the past, tell yourself gently and firmly, the past is over. It has no control over you. I am here now. Repeat these affirmations till your mind comes back to present. This will take away the mind’s need to chatter about the past because it is confidently being told that you are safe now. You are present now and you are thriving now.

And finally, develop a nothing-to-lose attitude with the idea of Ishwar Pranitha or believe that the power bigger than you exists, which will never let anything bad happen to you. Develop these faith-based ideals and you will grow a nothing-to-lose attitude automatically because you are always confident that you have been looked after or cared from the higher power in your life. See, when you think you are going to lose something, your mind is in a place of fear.

In life, if you want to succeed, you need to learn how the fear of losing is not distracting you from your possibilities and efforts. If you don’t want your fear to overpower you, then it’s time to develop a nothing-to-lose attitude. Whenever you are scared of something, tell yourself that you won’t lose by doing anything.
