Many ladies come to me with a problem called as Leukorrhea, White Discharge. So today let’s talk about this White Discharge or Leukorrhea problem. Something which is completely natural and happens to most women. It’s your body’s way to keeping your vagina clean and moist. Just like saliva keeps your mouth moist, it’s entirely normal for a woman to experience about 2 to 5 ml of discharge every day.
Normally, this discharge is odorless or may have a slight smell. It can change in texture and amount throughout your menstrual cycle. Sometimes this discharge happens excessively and it can be a sign of something not right, like an infection or other health issues. So it’s important to pay attention to any changes. In Ayurveda, Leukorrhea is called as Shwet Pradhar. It’s often seen in women who are weak and anemic. But no matter the cause, there are ways to manage it.
Hygiene
Neem water could be used for washing that area every day. Boil a few neem leaves in water, cool it and use it to wash genital area every time you pass urine or motion. Neem has antibacterial and antifungal properties that can help treat this abnormal discharge infection.

Washing and cleaning vagina and internal parts with Swatik, which is called as Alum water, is very beneficial too. Alum water is a natural astringent and has antiseptic properties, which helps reduce vaginal discharge and kills harmful microorganisms. You can adopt these cleansing methods when you feel that your discharge is in excess.
Remedies
There are some things you can try. Fenugreek seeds are great to balance hormones and reduce excess discharge. Soak a tablespoon full of fenugreek seeds in water overnight and drink this water early in the morning with an empty stomach. You can eat even fenugreek seeds also, which is in any case good for diabetes.
There is another technique which will work wonders and that is when you go for your bath, first fill a tub with water and add few drops of neem oil in that. Now sit in this tub for five minutes, put your feet out of tub, only your bottom part should be in water and sitting in this position, contract and relax your anal muscles, contract and relax your vaginal muscles. Do this for five to six minutes. This exercise is called as Ashwini mudra.
After five to six minutes, throw this water out, take a fresh water shower and that should be your bath. This technique is called as tipped bath. There is an Ayurvedic technique to clear this genital tract thoroughly with the decoction of the bark of peepal tree. To prepare this, take two tablespoons of the powder of bark, then boil it with one liter of water till the water reduces to half.
Filter this decoction and use this liquid. Peepal tree bark is effective because it has a powerful natural compound with antimicrobial property. Boiling the bark releases this compound into water and such a decoction reduces the microorganism and reduces inflammation. Let’s talk about food habits and other aspects.
If you have chronic white discharge, it is best to avoid fried spicy and sugary food and consume more green leafy vegetables. You must have more probiotic rich food like curd which can help regulate your vaginal pH and reduce the risk of infection.

Keeping your vaginal area cleaning is very important but don’t use harsh soap. Like I said earlier, use neem water instead. Always wipe your front to back after going for washroom. Wear breathable cotton underwear. Remember to change out of underwear immediately when it gets wet. You can also try some yoga poses to keep your reproductive system healthy.
Poses like madrasan, viprit karni, sarvangasana, matsyasana, setu bandhasana and haspa angushasana are all very good options. Taking a brisk walk in the morning as well as in the evening can help too. White discharge might not be more glamorous topic but understanding it and taking care of yourself can make a big difference. Remember, your body is amazing and you should take care of it.
